Abstract In the present work erosive and abrasive wear behaviour of HVOF deposited WC-12Co,WC 10Co4Cr and Cr3C2-25NiCr coatings was investigated.The maximum wear rate was exhibited by Cr3C2-25NiCr coating under both solid particle erosion and abrasion.The coatings exhibited composite erosion response.To study the Erosion Behavior of H.V.O.F.Coating of composition were the major determinants in erosive wear.The matrix corrosion also influences the erosive wear.However,similar coatings with 12% Co and 17% Coas binder applied by HP/HVOF do not show significant difference in ASTM G-65 abrasion test results [11].The microstructures,porosity and phase composition of WCTo study the Erosion Behavior of H.V.O.F.Coating of It is reported that coating microstructure,hardness and composition were the major determinants in erosive wear.The matrix corrosion also influences the erosive wear.However,similar coatings with 12% Co and 17% Coas binder applied by HP/HVOF do not show significant difference in ASTM G-65 abrasion test results [11].

Improving the Wear Behavior of WC-CoCr-based HVOF

WC-CoCr-based high velocity oxy fuel (HVOF) coatings are being used for several components which are prone to severe erosion or abrasion.In this study,the HVOF coating was applied by liquid fuel-based equipment.These coated samples were subjected to surface grinding of various depths (100,200,and 300 m).Hardness test after surface grinding showed that the coating hardness increased by High-Temperature Erosive Wear Behavior of High-Velocity Erosion wear behavior is investigated for coated and uncoated conditions using an air jet erosion tester at 100 m/s impact velocity.Three impact angles,i.e.,30 deg,60 deg,and 90 deg,and four working temperatures,room temperature,200 Erosive wear behaviour of HVOF#176;C,400 Erosive wear behaviour of HVOF#176;C,and 600 Erosive wear behaviour of HVOF#176;C,were chosen to identify wear mechanism.Erosive wear behaviour of HVOF-sprayed Ni-20Cr2O3The erosion rate of HVOF-sprayed Ni-20Cr 2 O 3 coated mild steel was found to be minimum,followed by erosion rate of HVOF-sprayed Ni-20Cr 2 O 3 coated SS304 and SS202 steel respectively.More compactness and higher microhardness of coating on mild steel in comparison with coatings on SS304 and SS202 may be the reasons behind this behaviour.
